Street photography in Ahmedabad – “Beat the Heat”

I was in Ahmedabad this past weekend to give a presentation on photography and managed to squeeze some time out to shoot with my friend Dhruv Dhakan in the old city.  We were shooting from about 10 am till noon and the light was not great so we headed to the Pols which are these narrow, colourful lanes in old Ahmedabad that take you back in time.  These lanes offered us enough shade to shoot as well as gave us some respite from the scorching heat.  As I was shooting I thought it was interesting how everyone found ways to battle the heat while some just had to brace it.  It was an unwitting essay that came about from my brief time in the Pols.  But I am positive that I will return and spend some quality shooting time in Ahmedabad soon.
